Fire Rescue Victoria, Corio Station consisted of the construction of a transition room within the existing motor room; to reduce the PPC exposure to diesel particles and other contaminants. The space was fitted with adequate hanging spaces with integrated bench and overhead hooks for the ten pairs of PPC. In addition, extra charging benches with sliding shelving underneath for portable radios and other associated items. The room is climate controlled with a new AC fresh air intake and sealed from engine bays that have incorporated all requirements such as sensor lighting, PA system, emergency lighting, smoke detectors and similar.
Works were completed within the timeframe nominated, whilst conducting works in a live environment and ensuring that Ducon always maintained safe access for emergency response. Ducon also ensured that all works undertaken had been planned with the user group in a systematic manner to ensure minimal disruption to FRV Operations. The result was achieved, as the delivery of the works allowed the on-duty platoon to relocate their PPC from the storeroom to the transition room.
